On a whim, my husband and I walked into David Love’s office at the Sea Pines Beach Club without an appointment. We were dripping wet from having walked on the beach in a rainstorm. Despite our bedraggled appearance, David welcomed us in.

We’d not made up our minds to move south from our home in New Hampshire but were leaning in that direction. It was our first visit to Hilton Head. After traveling the country and the world, we had a feeling after only a few days that HHI was the place.

David spent at least an hour giving us insight into everything we could want to know about the island and the real estate picture. We weren’t ready to make any decisions but asked if we could keep in touch. The frenetic 2022 real estate market required that snap decisions be made, but we were slow walking the process, and believed we may never find a home. I want to share a wonderful experience I had with a very professional real estate team from Hilton Head Island. It is the Love Family with Sea Pines Real Estate at the Beach Club.

When we began considering making a move on the island that would be more enjoyable for our teenagers and friends, we started looking at villas and condos near the Salty Dog and Harbour Town.

While clicking on internet realty listings, I ended up getting a call back from David Love who offered to help us with our search. As luck would have it, his mother had sold us our existing condo 20 years ago. We soon put it on the market, found a buyer and were closing on our future Harbour Town getaway in just a matter of months.

We contacted David and Kathy in October 2018 to discuss the possible sale of our three bedroom condo at Seacrest. We had already decided to undertake some renovations to the main bathroom and install new flooring to the other two bedrooms that November. As this is a rental property it made sense to do this regardless of wether we sold or not. In 2005, we had owned our first Sea Pines villa for six years and were considering an upgrade. It was during one of our enjoyable bike rides throughout Sea Pines that we recognized and struck up a conversation with David Love. We couldn’t take a second look at the condo so David did it for us. He took photos, measured everything, checked on what needed to be repaired or replaced. He knew the right person for every job as well as their phone number. With David as our guide he kept us up to date via phone calls and e-mail. He made our experience pleasurable, exciting and a learning process. He is so knowledgeable, courteous, conscientious and also humorous. We feel if you ever have the pleasure of dealing with David Love you will have a wonderful experience. When we went to Hilton Head recently we had lunch with David and his wife Kathy. What a lovely couple! They are both realtors and are perfectly suited for their profession. During lunch David said, “With the purchase of the condo our journey is not over because if we have a question or need anything – just call.” We truly feel comfortable about giving them a call because David and Kathy have become friends.

In December, 1995 my wife contacted real estate agent David Love from a pay phone in Tampa, Florida. We were NJ residents and I was set to retire from Medical Practice at the age of 44, in the summer of 1996. We had looked everywhere on both coasts of Florida to move and nothing caught our eye. We had vacationed each year on Hilton Head Island, since 1979, and loved it. “What if we moved there?” Ellen asked me. From the movement Ellen and David met on the phone there was an immediate rapport. David was the ultimate professional and took copious notes of our needs, wants, parameters, and deadlines. Within 3 weeks, we were on HHI during a warm January, for two full days with David, seeing house after house, each one meeting our needs. As happens, the last home was perfect in every way. David immediately got the listing broker on the phone and negotiations began, and while on our side, he was also ethical and fair and looking for a win-win agreement, which is the way Ellen and I govern our lives. A price was agreed upon with some minor repairs and a date to aim for closing. David was so detail oriented with the contracts, the appraiser, the termite inspector, the home inspector that we did not have to deal with any of them directly. When it came time for closing, we trusted David to do the walk-through for us, and he called us from the board room, to wire the money from NJ. He took care of every detail and an hour later he called to congratulate us on being new home owners on the Island Paradise of Hilton Head Island. David got the electricity and water and taxes and everything transfer. David got us our landscaper. David Love set the heat in the winter and the air conditioning in the summer. When the later summer of 96 finally came and our practice was sold, but we were needed for three months to ensure a smooth transition, when we showed up at our home in mid November 96 with the large moving van, our home was spotless, every repair that was to be done, was done perfectly, and even our mail box had our names on it. David, and now his wife Kathy, along with his mom Nancy, have become close friends since 1996. Everyone, 100%, of the folks we have referred to their partnership has been extremely satisfied. While phone booths may not exist anymore, it is good to know that old-fashioned honesty and service do in the like of the Loves.
